Being a open source fanatic, a freetard to the most, I always was a little closer to open source products and services. Always when the decision came to database selection, MySQL was my first choice. Now under SUN’s umbrella, the database that grew up in parallel with us, the freetards, in the job, shifts my expectation to the sky. New advanced features concerning the weak transaction support – which now is significantly improved – and user-defined tablespaces, SQL-based diagnostics for locking, I/O, and more.
