I was expecting such a development (LinQ for Java), but from an open source initiative rather than the SUN specification committee.  My understanding is that jcp would speed up to implement a so much celebrated development feature in .NET an action that has performed in the past with annotations and many other type specification. That is jcp under SUN guidance. Now my sense is that Larry is even more fond of the linq counterpart in the jdk. He is a database community guy and appreciates good data handling. The distinct here is that probably would be a modular feature (!!), aligned with the long term objective of two jdk versions one open and one enterprise.
